Cheap Skimboards Vs Expensive Skimboards

This is a huge debate and leads to many arguments among skimboarders. Serious skimboarders see cheaper skimboards as a hindrance to the sport and will openly talk about buying cheap vs. expensive skimboards. While there is obviously some truth to the fact that the more expensive ones of course work better than the cheaper ones, that’s not to say that everyone should run out and buy an expensive board. Especially if you are just a beginner.

I recommend anyone who is a beginner to always start with a cheaper board instead of an expensive board. When you first start skimboarding, you are going to crash and burn most of the time and your board is going to suffer in the process. Experienced skimboarders have a sixth sense that helps them keep an eye out for rocks and other obstacles that can hurt you or your board.

This sport is definitely learned through trial and error.

After you’ve gotten the hang of handling a cheap board a bit, I’d recommend moving on to an expensive board and then back again, it all depends on how serious you are as a skimboarder. If it’s something you’d like to do once or twice a year right when you go on vacation, I’d always stick with a cheaper board. However, if you have grown to love the sport and it becomes addictive, I recommend buying a more expensive board.

Whatever type of skimboarder you are, grab a skimboard, get out there and have some fun. It is an addictive sport that will stay with you forever.
