The Dodge Ball Theory: A Lesson in Developing the Self-Determination That Will Lead to Success

Today, Dodgeball is one of the most hated games in school. Children these days do not understand the concept of how the game is played or are too afraid of being hurt by the bite of the ball. I am going to discuss Dodgeball Theory, a lesson on how to build self-determination that will lead to success.

Growing up, I loved this game because of the anticipation and adrenaline of the ball flying at 100 miles per hour (metaphorically speaking) towards you from all kinds of directions; sometimes, you’ll get hit, dodge the ball, or catch it to get the other player out. In life, the game of Dodgeball takes on a completely different meaning, there are 3 different types of players involved:

1. The spectator

2. The license

3. The winner

Viewers are the ones who just let success go, sit back and watch other people succeed, find happiness, and become financially secure. Viewers are the ones who want all the time, but do nothing to fulfill their dreams.

The Quiters are the ones who play the game, but they give up when they feel the sting of the ball (s) thrown at them and they don’t want to play anymore; for them, life is not fair when things don’t go their way.

The winners are those who keep playing the game, even when they are eliminated, they are biting it to pieces to get back into the game until they are victorious. These are the people who find personal happiness and financial security in this life.

Ball regrets No. 1. Our past is full of mistakes and mistakes that we have made; Most of the time, we wish there was a time machine so that we could go back in time and avoid making that mistake. In reality, there is no time machine, but there is a lesson to be learned from our past mistakes; It is remembering that pain and regret that we have felt and then promising ourselves that we would never feel that kind of pain again.

Ball procrastination n. 2. This is the number one success killer; it is the reason so many people live in poverty, temporally and spiritually. We get into that mindset and habit of pushing the most important things that need to be done towards the end of the line. Success does not come to those who sit and wait, it comes to those who put their shoulders behind the wheel and work. There are so many reasons why people procrastinate, I’ll name a few of them:

  • Too tired to do anything.

  • Fear of success.

  • Life is too hectic.

  • Apologies.

  • Laziness.

  • Fear of hurting yourself

Pride and Failure of Ball No. 3. There is this instinct that is in each one of us to succeed and win that many times, due to pride, we are afraid of failing. Many great inventors have failed many times until they finally got their invention to work. This attribute, pride, has led to the downfall of many people and great nations because they refused to be humble and learn from their mistakes. Never put yourself in a situation where you think you are better than others. Failure, when you don’t give up, will lead to success.

Ball # 4 Unmotivated. There is a scene in the movie “Cinderella Man” where Braddock is taking body photos of Art Lasky; Braddock received a monstrous blow to the face, causing him to lose the mouthpiece. After that blow, he thought about his family and the bad conditions in which they lived, this motivated him to smile at his opponent and continued fighting until he was victorious. There are too many people who give up on their dreams due to some event that has occurred or an obstacle that they cannot overcome. If you find yourself in this situation, don’t back down, smile at your opponent and keep fighting until you are victorious.

In conclusion, put my theory to the test and see if it strengthens your self-determination to succeed. Record your results in a journal or notebook. Feel free to share this article or leave a comment below on some tips you’ve received on success and self-determination.
