Record label attraction

As a music artist, you are probably aware of the fact that it is really difficult to get signed with a record label, at least in the beginning. Very few musicians just walk on stage to find instant success and get an immediate record deal and sign. Those bands lucky enough to find that kind of success are, in most cases, a one-hit wonder. It is possible to attract the attention of record labels so that they come to you. Getting their attention is desirable for more than one reason.

While many people want to sign with a record label in hopes of making it big, there are those who may be interested in the advance checks that some of the major record labels hand out, and while that’s certainly something that would be attractive, that check it will only last so long. It is long-term success that you should dream of and aspire to, if possible. To give you a little head start in your efforts to attract a record label and show them what you have to offer, here are some tips to help you get started in the right direction. Keep in mind that they won’t guarantee your success, but if you have what it takes and use exposure and the element of attraction, these tips may work for you.

Another great way to get label attention is to go out there and play, play, play, play! The important message here is PLAY! If you’re talented and believe in yourself… performing free shows, concerts and similar engagements can make you a local celebrity and get you one step closer to success and garnering the attention of record labels. The more fans love you and your songs also represents the possible numbers in album sales to a label. If you can show that people love you, love your music, and show that you have a large following (fanbase), then a record label would be much less hesitant to bring you on board.

Some up-and-coming artists may be hesitant to find a real production team because they don’t want the hassle of having to work with them, or indeed pay them. However, if you want to be successful with live venues and be in a position to secure a record deal, you’ll need to have a good management and/or production team behind you for the ride and in support. The decision to try to do it without these people can make or break you.

If you have a goal and the talent to match…go for your dreams and don’t let anything get in your way, especially when it comes to the music industry. The odds are stacked against everyone, not just you, when it comes to pulling it off, but artists and bands do it. Hard work, dedication, and belief in yourself can get you there. Sometimes it takes a little more, sometimes a little less, and sometimes the road tends to be paved with potholes (potholes) but you can do it! Take some time often to assess your own worth and decide if you’re ready to invest in yourself. If you can’t do it in good faith, maybe reevaluate whether or not you deserve the record label’s attention. Be original but above all… Be yourself!
