Pandemic magic

I can no longer tie myself. I am never fully awake or asleep. For a recovering addict, boredom is my enemy. I need projects and goals to maintain some productivity in my day. Without the sense of accomplishment, my days feel empty.

Tomorrow I will plant my first Victory Garden. All the neighbors are doing one. I am a rare newcomer but eager to learn. Today, I learned that saving human hair clippings and spreading them around the garden keeps animals away due to the human smell that scares them.

I made friends in a new area that is always dangerous because obviously I’m not from here. The very mention of the ‘C’ word generates many groans of despair that such weirdos can breathe our Texas air. California represents everything that Texas is not. Each is perfect in its own way, but neither is satisfying in the long run.

Artists and weirdos tend towards the west coast. I’m not sure why. Perhaps the sun or the early days of Hollywood still draw Lost Angels to the land of light and glitter. It’s all about good health, while the Midwest doesn’t seem to care. The little ‘healthy nut huts’ that are put up in some stores reflect how strange our way of eating is.

Perhaps Native American history or nearby reservations bring to life such ancient ways as herbal healing, ritual healings for men in sweat lodges, and a certain blessing ceremony with sage and sweet herb. Treatments for PTSD were being discussed when I left the mountain for marked success.

Tribal forms versus Western forms often collide. Finding an herbal remedy first, such as cranberry juice or echinacea, is a difference between Texas and California. Acupuncture is wonderful and they are common. A 20 minute treatment left him in a relaxed and peaceful state for approximately 24 hours.

In Texas, people interact with more animals. Of course, it is a cattle country, but pets abound. There are so many stray here that I have a goal to control the area where I keep myself under control. I think there were 10 cats before one had 8 kittens recently.

Three stray dogs have turned up in the Piney Woods in recent months, one taken to the shelter before the virus shut them down. The other two are still hanging around. One is a good animal and I bring it inside. She is a Rottweiler with an intact tail. Her name is Lady.

I can’t wait for this quarantine to produce miracles that bring the world back to health and well-being. Let the species regenerate, the forests renew and the air clear. When the ozone hole closes, we will all inhale His Light, His Magic and His Spirit. He will walk among us as we all embody him. He lives in us.
