Hang your canvas wall art with a ribbon

If you want to add a bit of flair to the way you hang your canvas wall art, why not use ribbons to hold them up on the wall. It is an innovative way of presenting paintings. It also draws more attention to your wall decoration. This style of hanging pictures is very suitable for a playroom or a child’s bedroom. You can also do this for your paintings in your living room.

If you were to hang your canvas the traditional way, all you would need is a hanging kit, a nail, and a hammer. If you want to be a bit more original, you can use ribbons to hang your artwork. The tape should be visible at the top of the canvas. The tape will become part of your artwork and wall decoration.

If you have settled on a particular painting that you want to hang this way, then you should analyze your painting colors and base your ribbon color on that. You have to let your tape complement your artwork, not collide with it or overshadow your canvas wall art.

You should also get wider or thicker ribbons for larger canvases so that the ribbon can support the weight of a heavier piece of art. Use about an inch thinner ribbons for smaller paints. Stick to plain ribbons and avoid patterns on the ribbon. You don’t want the viewer to be distracted from the painting by a fancy tape.

When you hang your canvas wall art with a ribbon, it grabs more attention and automatically becomes the focal point of your room. You just need a few things to get started with this project, like scissors, tape, a nail, a wall hook, and a hammer.

Hammer a small, thin nail to hold the tape to the back of the canvas, not the sides. Nail the ribbons to the left and right stretch bars of the canvas. Lay your painting face down on a smooth, flat surface with the back towards you.

Place a soft cloth under the paint to cushion the blows from the hammer. Hammer carefully to avoid damaging your artwork. No need to hammer too hard because small nails can easily pierce the frame.

Install the hook on your wall a little higher than usual. Remember that the tape will be exposed and when you hang your painting, your canvas will drop a little lower than when you hang without tape. Use larger, stronger hooks for larger canvases and smaller hooks for small paintings.

Hanging pictures like this in a series in your hallway or staircase will also look cute. Don’t overdo the look of tape on all your canvas prints throughout the house. Use it only for a few pieces so it doesn’t look too ordinary.
