7 Great Things to Do in Baltimore, Maryland

Baltimore, Maryland is a great old city that some say has seen much better days in the past. It is true that some neighborhoods in the city are not “ideal tourist attractions”, let’s say. But there’s still plenty to do and see in Baltimore for the whole family on most weekends.

1) inland port it’s the obvious jewel in Baltimore’s crown. It is a beautiful horseshoe-shaped inland harbor surrounded by restaurants and places to eat, and a great promenade that features the ironclad sailing man-of-war. uss constellationlaunched in 1854.

2) National Aquarium, also in the Inner Harbor, is a must-see indoor collection of all kinds of fish (including sharks), reptiles, and endangered species. Don’t forget to stop by the glass-encased “Tropical Forest” on top of the aquarium’s imposing cylinder-shaped structure.

3) Edgar Allen Poe House and Museum It is a modest three-story house where the master of terror lived during the 1830s and 1840s until his death. “This place gives me the creeps!” said Vincent Price, for good reason. Find out why.

4) Babe Ruth Museum and the Oriole Park at Camden Yards (home of the Baltimore Orioles) with a capacity of 48,000 are perfect for all baseball fans. Babe Ruth’s home at 216 Emory Street, not far from Oriole Park, is the birthplace of the legendary slugger in 1895.

5) Baltimore Museum of Art it is right next to the Johns Hopkins University campus in North Baltimore. It is an important art center, like the private Walter Art Museum, where important exhibitions are held throughout the year. Admission is free, except for special shows.

6) National Museum of Great Blacks in Wax it is a unique delight for all history buffs and a great place to visit and appreciate the contributions of many important African-Americans.

7) Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine it is where the American National Anthem was born during the Battle of Baltimore, on September 13 and 14, 1814. The star-shaped fort is not located within the city of Baltimore and is located ten miles to the south. But it is a unique and important historical site that is worth the extra trip.
